In short
- Hair fall after illness or stress usually settles once the cause is corrected.
- Pattern hair loss is gradual, so earlier treatment preserves more hair.
- Hair fall reduces in about a month. Visible density takes 4 to 6 months.
Why is my hair falling?
Hair fall usually has a treatable cause, most often low iron or vitamin D, a thyroid problem, a recent illness or stress, or pattern hair loss. The consultation covers your history, a scalp examination with trichoscopy, and blood tests where needed, such as iron, vitamin D, thyroid and hormone levels.
- Sudden heavy shedding two to three months after fever, surgery, childbirth or crash dieting.
- Pattern hair loss: a receding hairline and thinning crown in men, a widening parting in women.
- Round bald patches from alopecia areata.
- Scalp problems such as dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis or fungal infection.
- Tight hairstyles that pull at the hairline.
How is hair fall treated?
- Correcting deficiencies found on blood tests.
- Medicines that slow pattern hair loss and support regrowth, chosen separately for men and women.
- PRP and GFC injections of growth factors from your own blood.
- Supporting treatments such as mesotherapy, microneedling and low-level laser.
- Scalp treatment for dandruff and inflammation.
Do PRP and GFC work?
Both use growth factors from your own blood to push thinning follicles back into growth. They are started as a course of 4 to 6 sessions, one every 3 to 4 weeks, followed by maintenance sessions. They work on thinning hair, not on scalp that is already bald and shiny, and work best with medicines. Read PRP and GFC for pattern hair loss for the details.
How long until hair grows back?
- Hair fall reduces first, usually within the first month.
- New growth starts around 2 to 3 months.
- Visible density improves by 4 to 6 months. Photographs at each visit track progress.
What does it cost?
Cost depends on how severe the problem is and which treatments suit you. After the consultation you are told the likely number of sessions and the cost before anything is booked.

Common questions
Is hair fall after fever or dengue permanent?
Usually not. Shedding that starts a few months after an illness generally settles, and the hair grows back over several months once the body recovers.
Does PRP work on bald areas?
No. PRP and GFC help thinning hair, where follicles are still active. They cannot regrow hair on a scalp that is already smooth and bald.
Will I need treatment for life?
Pattern hair loss continues without treatment, so the benefit lasts only while treatment continues. Once results are stable, the plan is reduced to the minimum that maintains them.
